Editorial Reviews:

This is true high-performance versatility. You'll quickly print photos with color resolution up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, so it's much easier to copy, scan or fax large documents. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and documents will feature bold, laser-quality text. You'll produce 1200-dpi scans with vibrant 48-bit color depth, and achieve Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W.

Customer Rating: Summary: A few problems Comment: This is VERY different from a regular Printer only. The only problems I have encountered so far are how few sheets of paper you can load, so it seems I'm always putting paper in. More importantly, it's very hard to set up a page to print so that what you're printing is not so tiny you can't read it. My regular printer just printed normal size without having to set anything. The black ink cartridge seems to already be low on ink with very little printing? On the upside the fact that the machine does so much more than just printing is very nice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worst Design Ever for Replacing Cartridges Comment: This printer is the worst ever for replacing ink cartridges. The cartridges USUALLY do not engage properly, and then you have to try over and over and over again before the printer takes hold of them. Unless you want to waste a lot of time replacing ink cartridges, don't buy this printer. Canon should be ashamed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great printer Comment: This is a great printer for the money. Set up and installation instructions were easy to understand. The print quality is clear and the fax and scan functions are easy to use. Very happy with this purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great personal printer Comment: Brought the MX310 to print webpages and personal documents. The document feeder & fax have been a pleasant bonus. I read some good reviews about Cannon printers before I brought. My results do show better & faster printouts than other printers I've owned.
Customer Rating: Summary: An Excellent Printer for the Price Comment: I picked up the MX310 yesterday at Costco for $80. This is my first Canon. I chose Canon because they always came out on top in Consumer Reports. Setting it up was straight forward using the large set-up sheet. This is a super fast printer and the quality is the best I've seen. I made a copy of a form with both B & W and color and could not tell the difference. My old HP 2410 hit old age and what a difference 4 years makes in technology. The 310 is actually bigger than I thought it would be, so it takes up alot of room on the desktop. After turning off the volume for all the beeps, I'm a happy camper. I also checked the Canon Web Site for any updates and there is one (Aug 2008) firmware update that sounds like it fixes any problem with the fax tone interrupting telephone calls. The update isn't necessary for the printer with my serial number. We've used our phone several times since yesterday without a problem. I would have preferred a paper try rather than the paper sticking up in the back, but other than that no complaints.
