Customer Rating: Summary: used to use clinique Comment: I used to use Clinique also. I looked everywhere for other liners and tried many. This is the only one I have found that goes on dark with one application. I used to have to apply Clinique 2 or 3 times before I got the color I wanted. This also stays on a lot longer than the Clinique, which would smudge off. I will buy this again even if the other comes back. (If you like a lighter shade Clinique would work for you. Go to Lost But Not Forgotten they can get it for you.) Customer Rating: Summary: Reallyreally pale Comment: Because I have brown eyes, I bought the brown cake eyeliner. Big mistake. Not only is the 'brown' a really, really pale brown - barely noticeable after application, but it smudges off after barely 1/2 hour. Yuck. So is Clinique really back? I'm on my way to the mall to check. If it's there, I'm tossing this eyeliner in the trash and going back to the excellent Clinique. Customer Rating: Summary: Arrrgghhhh Comment: It runs, it smudges, it's not good without an mixing liquid which puts it right up there with the gels and liquid eyeliners. Besides ladies, Clinique IS BACK! Customer Rating: Summary: eyeliner Comment: Very nice product. Must have the correct brush for maximum effects however. It can be very tricky to use without a good brush. Customer Rating: Summary: Mommy, she's crying BLACK tears! Comment: The BEN NYE CAKE EYELINER requires a study hand to put on and lot's of experience mixing the right amount of water with the cake to control the opacity of the color.
So if you're not experienced in doing this, it can be a lessen in frustration. Also, if you don't follow up with some sort of sealer the eyeliner will run and smear! In fact, you can remove it with just a wet napkin.
Remember the "Brady Bunch" epsiode where a woman started crying and her mascara ran and Cindy said, "Mommy! She's crying black tears!" Well that's what will happen to you if you don't follow the application of this eyeliner with a sealer.
I don't know why some of the other reviewers failed to mention that. Water is what activates the cake eyeliner in the first place, so how can the eyeliner remain water-proof and fixed without the addition of a separate product?
IMO, you have more control with a pencil and it stays on longer. Maybelline's eyeliner/brow pencil is still the best.
