This silicone pot holder lifts hot pots off the stove or casserole dishes from the oven without fear of burning fingers or dropping cookware. This pot holder also serves as a smaller trivet to keep Formica or Corian countertops from melting, blistering, or scratching; prevents smaller mixing bowls and cutting boards from sliding during use; and functions as a jar opener and garlic peeler. Measuring 7 inches square, this pot holder has a patterned silicone surface that firmly grips pot handles or jar lids even when wet and is heat-resistant to 675 degrees Fahrenheit. This pot holder is flexible enough to roll up and store compactly in a drawer or has a hole in one corner to hang from a hook. This product comes in a rainbow of different colors and is dishwasher-safe. --Cristina Vaamonde

Customer Rating: Summary: You Have to Buy This Thing Comment: You have to have some sort of pot holder to carry hot pots and pans from the oven or stove to somewhere else. Having worked in restaurants, I was always trained to have a clean, dry towel tucked into my apron; I was not allowed to do anything with it except carry hot pots and pans around the kitchen.
I started in my home kitchen with a collection of various fabric pot holders. Problem: after a few days they get really dirty and full of germs, so you wash them. Then, you take them out of the dryer and they literally fall apart. So, I just keep an extra dry towel in the kitchen to serve as a pot holder. Yeah, right; it gets used like every other towel lying around, and it is rarely clean and dry when you need it.
I got 2 of these as a present (one red, one blue), and boy do I love these things. They are basically rubber-like, so you can wash every day along with all of the dirty dishes. This way, when you grab something and a corner of the pot holder dips into your food, you are safe since (at least in theory) you have washed the pot holder recently and it is still nice and clean and sanitary. Also, you can hold a blazing hot pan for much longer before the heat gets to your hand; as long as a full minute.
The only thing I do not like about these things is that they are rather stiff. So, when you put one into your hand to grab something hot, you have think for a few seconds about positioning the silicon correctly, unlike a towel that you quickly and without thinking wrap around your hand and grab. But the sanitary nature of this thing trumps that irritation, and I think that everyone should trash their pot holders and get these things.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Pot Holder Comment: I love my pot holders. They are perfect because even if they get wet you can quickly wipe them off and use them again. I've gotten more than one steam burn from my regular pot holders because I didn't notice that they had soaked up some water. I've had similar problems with holding a pot for a long time with them but my regular pot holders have the same issue. For that type of thing I'd have to recommend a pair of oven mitts. They do take a bit of getting used to but if you hold them in a diamond shape as opposed to flat they are a little easier to work with. So while I wouldn't throw away my old pot holders, I highly recommend these for your kitchen collection.
Customer Rating: Summary: Orange "trivet" Comment: I'm not in agreement that these are good pot holders, not at all. They are clumsy and awkward and not even easy to hold on to. That is not a good thing when one is holding a burning hot pan! They slip and slide and tho easy to clean (and normal pot holders are THAT difficult to clean?), they might as well call them orange TRIVETS.
Not my cuppa tea...
Customer Rating: Summary: Very versatile pot holder Comment: What is in your collection? No pot holder is perfect. The pretty ones are too thin. How about those spiffy jobs with the stains or burn marks? The silicone pot holders always look good. I love them for messy food like lasagna. I smile every time I have to scrub food off of them. They come clean so easily. They are big enough to use as trivets under hot dinner plates. The nonslip surface is perfect for my three kids under eight. They do eventually transfer heat. I cannot hold a glass pan out of the oven and serve my five member family without getting hot fingers. Just like any of my other pot holders, I have to plan where to put the hot dish while serving.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good idea --- but a little awkward Comment: Pros: They are very easy to keep clean. Accidentally dip the corner in your dish? It washes right off! No need to launder.
Cons: They take some getting used too. The silicone is a bit stiff, so bending it to get a good grip on something can take a little practice.
